About

I'm currently living in Idaho and in 2016 I bought a small property (7 acres) to homestead on and to manage for wild game.  In our area we have good populations of both big and small game animals and I wanted to create a property that would attract and provide for many of the common game species in the area. So far I’ve started planting various plants and developing the land in order to make this happen.
My goal is to create excellent habitat that will raise the carrying capacity of the land to support high game populations mostly by providing great food, cover and water resources. I’m drawing upon practices used in quality deer management, wild game management, permaculture and homesteading wisdom in order to increase the availability of wild game calories on my property so I can create a self sustaining food source for myself and my family. This blog will be used to share my methods and to help educate others on how to do the same on their properties.
I believe there is a huge opportunity in the field of wildlife habitat management for humans to take a more active role in creating optimal wildlife habitat. It would be interesting to see if any of these ideas eventually become more mainstream and could be used on a greater scale possibly helping to create a major sustainable food source of wild food for large populations of people.
